Ending Plastic Pollution is the unifying subject of the world today, June 5, 2025. This concept is more than simply a catchphrase for TANMIDE GREEN CYCLE FOUNDATION; it is a movement, a call to action, and a mission that we carry out on a daily basis in our communities throughout Nigeria and beyond.

One of the most urgent environmental issues of our day is plastic waste. The effects of plastic trash are disastrous, ranging from poisonous emissions and endangered species to choked rivers and contaminated seas, and time is running out.

The good news is that we can put an end to it together.

The Significance of Plastic Pollution
Only 9% of the more than 400 million tonnes of plastic produced annually worldwide is recycled. The others? It finds its way into rivers, oceans, landfills, sewers, and even into the food and air we breathe.

The problem of plastic contamination extends beyond the environment. It’s a problem for food security, health, the economy, and generations. The majority of the load is placed on underdeveloped nations, whose waste management systems are frequently overburdened or underfunded.

We at TANMIDE GREEN CYCLE FOUNDATION have personally witnessed the impact that plastic has on farms, coastal communities, urban slums, and even educational institutions. However, we have also witnessed the transformation that can occur when individuals collaborate.
